About the Artist

Hello! I'm Jason Don, an artist and sculptor based in Los Angeles with a deep passion for stone sculpture and traditional letter carving. My journey into stone carving began after reading The Agony and the Ecstasy, a biography of Michelangelo that sparked a lifelong fascination with this enduring medium. Stone, with its timeless quality, endless textures and universal appeal, connects us with our past—it’s one of the rare materials that truly withstands the test of time.

Carving stone is a demanding, rewarding process that requires time, dedication, and hard work. The physical experience of shaping each piece makes me feel connected to the roots of our collective past. Inspired by the forms and symbols of the natural world, I aim to create art that preserves life’s fleeting beauty in a medium meant to last forever.

And when I’m not carving stone I like to get out into nature with my Bernedoodle, Toshi. He’s also my studio manager and resident squirrel chaser.
